On 29 April 2026, the second list of EU Projects of Common Interest and Projects of Mutual Interest (PCI/PMI) under the revised TEN-E regulation entered into force, featuring, inter alia, the Czech-German Hydrogen Interconnector (item 10.2).

This time round, the corridor has been included in the PCI list as consisting of three projects:

  • 10.2.1 Internal hydrogen infrastructure in Czechia towards Germany [currently known as “Czech H2 Backbone West”],
  • 10.2.2 Internal hydrogen infrastructure in Germany [currently known as “FLOW East – Making Hydrogen Happen”], and,
  • 10.2.3 Internal hydrogen infrastructure in Germany [currently known as “H2ercules Network South- East”].

The repeated inclusion of the corridor in the PCI list confirms its strategic significance, while also demonstrating the importance, and the excellent level, of cross-border cooperation between the four partnering Transmission System Operators and the respective countries’ authorities.

Similarly, the CGHI project partners consider the PCI label a clear signal that the transformation of the gas infrastructure towards low-emission gases – including hydrogen – can significantly contribute to strengthening energy security and fulfilling climate objectives.

In practical terms, achieving PCI status provides a number of benefits to our projects, such as simplified and faster permitting procedures, regulatory incentives or the eligibility for financial support from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
